About Armenia

Armenia is this tiny but super old country stuck between Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Iran often chosen for touring among travelers. Back in 301 AD, they were the first ever country to make Christianity their official religion, which is pretty cool!  Because of that, they've got tons of awesome old churches and monasteries scattered around some seriously beautiful scenery.

Their capital city, Yerevan, is one of the oldest cities still going strong today seen during the tour.

Some must-see spots in Armenia include:

* Lake Sevan: This giant lake high up in the mountains is seriously impressive.

* Mount Ararat: This mountain is like a national icon - you can see it from Yerevan! People believe Noah's Ark landed there after the flood.

* Geghard Monastery: This monastery is carved right into the side of a mountain and is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

* Garni Temple: It's the only ancient temple left standing in the whole region.

* Tatev Monastery:  You can reach this monastery by riding the longest cable car in the world - no stopping!

The state is mostly mountains, so there are tons of opportunities to get outdoors and hike, ski, or just traveling along nature.

While you're there, don't miss the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan. It's a powerful reminder of a tragic event from 1915 and helps you understand Armenia's history better.  You can also learn about the local food and culture while you're there!
